Bespoke marble furniture begins with a conversation about the room it will live in — its proportions, its light, the way it will be used. Rather than adapting an existing model, Studio IB Milano develops each commission from a blank page, so the finished piece feels inevitable in its setting.
Every commission is designer marble furniture in the fullest sense: a form conceived by the studio, refined through drawings and material studies, then realised as a singular object. Clients might commission a dining table for a specific room, a console for an entrance hall, or a series of pieces that carry one material language through an entire interior.
Materials
Stone selection is the first design decision.
Marble, breccia, travertine and other natural stones are chosen block by block, since a sculptural piece is carved from solid stone — often a single block — and the movement and tone within that stone shape the character of the finished object. A honed, polished or brushed finish is then selected to suit the way the piece will be touched, lit and used, so that the stone reads as considered rather than decorative.
